According to the decision of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, starting October 1, 2013, the traffic on Agigea Bridge is restricted to vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons, excluding ambulances and special emergency vehicles. This bridge is in an ‘advanced stage of degradation’, he said.

Also from this date, the Agigea bridge will be monitored 24 / 24 hours in order to ascertain whether the degradation degree evolves. While discussing possible solutions during his visit to Constanta, the PM says that if it is found that the Agigea bridge is becoming ‘an imminent danger of accident, it`s going to be closed entirely’.

The PM also discussed, in Constanta, with the constructors of the new bridge from Gate 10 – Constanta port, who assured him that the work will be completed by May 2014. From this date, the new bridge will assure the traffic and will allow the Agigea bridge to be definitively closed for major repairs.

They hope that the structure will resist until May, when the other one will be ready to be used.

On this occasion, the railway transportation capacity will be expanded, a new bridge will be brought from Galati to ensure heavy vehicle traffic.

To compensate losses incurred by carriers, the fee for county roads will be suspended by the Constanta County Council and the costs will be compensated from the reserve fund of Romania.

Also starting October 2013 in the port of Constanta you can benefit from the new technology of loading cargo containers – Container Filler. The new system enables massive costs reduction of containers loading and transportation.
